Abstract
Purpose: Despite tacrolimus being a commonly used immunosuppressant in renal transplantation, roughly half of its users experience tremors as a side effect. To ensure adequate immunosuppression while avoiding nephrotoxicity, these recipients must get frequent tacrolimus drug level dosing from a specialized centre. This poses practical issues for many recipients. Because the tacrolimus-induced tremor appears to be dose-dependent, we suspect that it can be used as a biomarker. This work presents the development of a novel app to quantitatively measure tremor in transplant recipients and correlate it with tacrolimus trough levels.
