Abstract

InAsP/InP nanowire-based quantum dots have shown great progress towards becoming ideal single photon sources for important quantum technologies such as quantum information processing and quantum cryptography. Achieving coherent control of these sources is essential for generating highly indistinguishable single photons—a key requirement for quantum interference. In this work, we demonstrate our current successes with coherent control on nanowire quantum dots by implementing strictly resonant excitation. By employing a polarization-rejection technique, we achieve high suppression of the excitation laser, high single-photon purity, and reduced excitation timing jitter. Furthermore, we report, for the first time, enhanced two-photon indistinguishability using resonant fluorescence in nanowire quantum dots.
