Au sein du champ de la création sonore, le portrait de pays ne trouve place au sein de la palette générique usuelle, comme si ce genre ne se révélait pas nécessaire aux nomenclatures de cet univers de création. S’agissant d’un secteur qui met en avant sa dimension sonore, le portrait semble d’autant plus faire l’objet d’une réticence qu’il se trouve associé de prime abord au domaine visuel. Toutefois, les discours d’accompagnement des oeuvres sonores — sachant qu’il y en a toujours — configurent à l’occasion une généricité qui participe bel et bien du portrait de pays et, le plus souvent, de ville.
