Abstract

Michel Neault, artiste du son, a passé des nuits dans une gare de triage enclavée dans un quartier résidentiel de Montréal. Il accompagne les répartiteurs, les wagonniers, les mécaniciens; il loge son silence dans leurs conversations, intercepte leurs communications radio, répète les gestes inhérents à leur métier. L’artiste compose un portrait sonore, Y Bush Corrida, non seulement avec des matériaux auxquels ces travailleurs se frottent, mais aussi avec leur écoute et leur capacité à décrire la sonorité de leur gare de triage. C’est ce dont la présente analyse veut rendre compte.
