Building bridges: codesigning & sense of belonging
Bibliographic record
Abstract
This manuscript explores the implementation and outcomes of a codesign prototype called Side-by-Side, intended to enhance belonging for equity-owed residents in community recreation. Developed in partnership with equity-owed residents, Side-by-Side aimed to codesign community tactics to cultivate a sense of belonging with and for equity-owed residents through collective action. Through semi-structured interviews with providers, equity-owed residents, and allied community partners involved in the codesign process, we identify how the codesign process bridged divides by creating a collaborative environment that engendered a sense of belonging. Two themes are discussed: 1) deepening awareness and challenging assumptions, and 2) power and participation. Moreover, we explain how the Side-by-Side prototype fostered trust, promoted collaboration, and facilitated freedom of choice. We did this by finding ways for equity-owed residents to legitimize their knowledge and gain access to provisions that support access to recreation opportunities in their communities and cultivate a sense of belonging.

Full frame distilled prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
