Abstract
This article explores the impact of science and technology on human relationships within the context of the free enterprise system shaping the new world order. It critiques the limited influence of scientific approaches on qualitative aspects of human interaction. Focusing on the Nuu-chah-nulth community, the article contrasts Western scientific methodologies with Indigenous knowledge acquisition practices, particularly the oosumich, or vision quest. This authentic Nuu-chah-nulth method highlights alternative ways of understanding the world through origin stories and nature. By comparing these divergent worldviews, the article emphasizes the importance of diverse epistemologies and the value of Indigenous perspectives in contemporary knowledge and research conditions.
