Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Thermohaline convection in a couple stress fluid layer under variable gravity conditions is analyzed using both linear theory and energy methods to gain insight into fluid behavior relevant to geophysical and space science applications. The normal mode technique applied to the linearized system yields critical values consistent with those obtained via the energy approach across all considered boundary conditions. The presence of couple stresses and solute gradients counteracts the destabilizing thermal gradient, thereby delaying the onset of convection. Variations in the gravity parameter significantly influence the stability threshold. These findings provide a unified framework that combines double diffusion, couple stresses, and variable gravity, with practical relevance to modeling stratified fluid layers in Earth's mantle, subsurface geothermal circulation, and biological or fluid transport processes under low-gravity environments such as space missions.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
