Abstract
In no country outside the United States of America was Arthur Casagrande’s impact, as an eminent consulting engineer and gifted and inspiring teacher, greater than in Canada. Over a period of some 50 years, he was consulted on the soil behaviour aspects of many of the largest civil engineering projects in Canada, in geographic extent from coast to coast and into the far north. These projects, in their success, form long-lasting monuments to his professional talents.
