Dans cette entrevue, le directeur artistique du Théâtre la Seizième à Vancouver, Cory Haas, et sa prédécesseure Esther Duquette partagent leur vision sur le théâtre francophone en milieu minoritaire et leur pratique artistique. Il et elle explorent l’importance de la vulnérabilité dans le processus créatif, tout en soulignant le rôle du théâtre comme espace d’engagement social et politique. Esther Duquette met de l’avant l’importance de créer des œuvres qui résonnent profondément avec le public, en privilégiant de nouvelles voix et de nouveaux récits. Cory Haas, quant à lui, considère le théâtre comme une expérience vivante et festive, où l'événementiel joue un rôle essentiel dans l’engagement du public. Ensemble, il et elle abordent la création et la programmation théâtrales, ainsi que les défis uniques auxquels le théâtre francophone en milieu minoritaire fait face, notamment la pression de produire des œuvres d’excellence pour attirer et fidéliser un public, ainsi que la nécessité de maintenir une forte communauté de soutien autour de ces productions.
