RÉSUMÉ La présente étude de cas porte sur l'insolvabilité choquante de 2021 et le scandale financier qui en a résulté à l'Université Laurentienne, un établissement d'enseignement postsecondaire financé par les fonds publics dans la province de l'Ontario, au Canada. Ce cas révèle d'importantes faiblesses dans le contrôle interne, souligne l'incapacité de l'établissement à soutenir une gestion financière durable et sert d'avertissement sur l'importance d'une gouvernance responsable. S'appuyant sur des informations accessibles au public, l'étude de cas met l'accent sur les éléments financiers, de gouvernance et d'audit découlant du scandale. Le scandale de la Laurentienne est un événement comptable canadien important qui mérite l'attention de la communauté comptable au Canada et à l'étranger, car des leçons importantes peuvent être tirées en matière de gestion financière et de gouvernance d'entreprise. Cette étude de cas convient à une analyse dans le cadre d'un cours de premier cycle en intégration professionnelle, ou au cycle supérieur en certification. L'étude de cas a également valeur pour ceux qui travaillent dans le domaine de la gouvernance académique.
