Abstract
À partir de mon expérience professionnelle à la Philharmonie de Paris, cet article analyse les positionnements de l’institution et des chercheurs face à une démarche d’investigation placée au cœur du projet Démos. Il décrit les pratiques d’observation permises (ou occultées) par le dispositif, les négociations à l’œuvre entre les différents acteurs et les instrumentalisations possibles afin d’explorer les enjeux, les atouts et les risques d’une recherche dite engagée ou « embarquée ». Plus largement, il propose des outils réflexifs pour penser les demandes d’expertise qui émanent des projets musicaux à impact social et interroge le rôle public donné à la science dans la construction et l’évaluation des projets dits « à vocation sociale ».
