Abstract
Avec le vieillissement de la population, il devient crucial de promouvoir des activités qui favorisent le bien-être des personnes aînées sur le plan physique, psychologique, cognitif et social. Cet article présente une étude qualitative menée en 2022-2023 sur une intervention chorale auprès de personnes aînées acadiennes et francophones vivant en résidence à Moncton, au Nouveau-Brunswick. Basée sur 20 entrevues semi-dirigées avec des personnes aînées et une entrevue de groupe avec leurs proches et des membres de la communauté, l’étude explore la mise en place du choeur et ses impacts intergénérationnels. Trois thèmes majeurs émergent : la motivation et l’engagement des choristes, les bienfaits sociaux, cognitifs, physiques et psychologiques du chant choral, ainsi que les conditions favorisant un tel projet. L’étude souligne le rôle du chant choral dans la sociabilisation, le plaisir et le dépassement personnel des participant·e·s, renforçant leur identité sociale et culturelle.
