Abstract
¿Por qué el niño no deja de llorar? Tal vez tiene “susto”. En comunidades indígenas de México, ciertos padecimientos se entienden como el resultado de un desequilibrio con las fuerzas que habitan el mundo natural. Este texto explora la cosmovisión nahua y tutunakú sobre el “mal aire”, el “susto de tierra”, de agua o de fuego, y las maneras en que el cuerpo y el alma pueden perder armonía por una impresión fuerte o por cruzarse con entidades sobrenaturales. A través de testimonios, prácticas curativas con hierbas y rituales chamánicos, descubrimos cómo la salud implica mucho más que un cuerpo sin síntomas: se trata de una relación ética y respetuosa con la naturaleza y el territorio que habitamos.
