Dans cet article, après une brève biographie de Afaf Ibrahim Meleis, nous décrirons les éléments principaux de sa théorie des transitions. Après avoir présenté les fondements théoriques ainsi que les principaux concepts et les postulats, nous aborderons les buts et les transpositions possibles, tant d’un point de vue pédagogique que sociétal. Grâce à trois exemples d’applications, nous argumenterons en quoi cette théorie est à la fois une méthode, un processus de réflexion dans et sur les soins.
