Cet article propose une lecture croisée de deux textes de Jean Genet portant sur l’oeuvre de Rembrandt et ses effets esthétiques sur ses spectateurs ― « Ce qui est resté d’un Rembrandt déchiré en petits carrés bien réguliers, et foutu aux chiottes » et « Le secret de Rembrandt » ― avec l’autopathographie contemporaine Camouflé dans la chair , de l’auteur québécois Mathieu Leroux. L’objectif de l’article est d’esquisser une théorie de « l’expérience picturale » en contexte hospitalier : soit la sensation incarnée de devenir le personnage d’un tableau, expérience sensorielle permettant, dans la foulée, de recontextualiser, comprendre et critiquer, de manière à la fois esthétique, anachronique et transhistorique, la position subalterne dans laquelle la hiérarchie médicale cantonne souvent le corps malade.
