Abstract
The ethno-obstetrical practices of Haitian matrons fall under regenerative and restorative pedagogy.These practices refer to a set of knowledge, know-how and ways of being, as well as modes of thought and action aimed at regenerating and repairing the body-mind of women during pregnancy, during labor and after childbirth.Traditional midwives (fanm chay) play an important role in the fight against the vulnerability of pregnant women, women in childbirth, those who have given birth and their babies in rural areas with little or no biomedicalization where they generally replace health professionals trained in Western medicine.They contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of nature through their know-how, their ways of thinking and acting.
