Abstract
Sigerico fue un personaje paradójico, verdugo y víctima en las luchas por el poder entre los visigodos apenas asentados en la Hispania romana, cuando todavía estaban en lucha con la corte de Ravena y no se habían convertido en foederati del imperio. Participó en el asesinato de Ataúlfo y, una vez nombrado rey de los visigodos, mandó matar a sus seis hijos y humilló a su esposa, Gala Placidia, hermana del emperador Honorio. Poco le duró el reinado, ya que la mayoría de las fuentes aseguran que a los siete días fue a su vez asesinado y sustituido en el trono por Walia
