Abstract
Hiện nay diện tích đất nông nghiệp ngày càng bị thu hẹp, đặc biệt tại các đô thị. Trong bối cảnh đó, phát triển nông nghiệp trong môi trường kiểm soát với công nghệ thủy canh đang trở thành hướng đi mới nhằm vượt qua những thách thức này. Tuy nhiên, quá trình xây dựng và vận hành các trang trại thủy canh được cho là tiêu tốn tài nguyên và năng lượng, có khả năng dẫn đến phát triển không bền vững. Nghiên cứu này đánh giá tác động môi trường của công nghệ canh tác thủy canh và so sánh với công nghệ canh tác truyền thống trên đất áp dụng phương pháp đánh giá vòng đời. Nghiên cứu được triển khai ở 2 trang trại quy mô thương mại tại TP.HCM: một trang trại thủy canh và một trang trại thổ canh với diện tích 1000 m2. Kết quả cho thấy, trang trại thủy canh mang lại năng suất và hiệu quả sử dụng đất cao hơn, đồng thời nhu cầu sử dụng tài nguyên nước, năng lượng và phát thải khí nhà kính tính trên mỗi kg rau tươi đều thấp hơn trang trại thổ canh. Nghiên cứu này cho thấy ưu, nhược điểm về môi trường của từng phương pháp, tạo tiền đề định hướng phát triển và vận hành các trang trại một cách hiệu quả hơn.
