Abstract
Suicidal thoughts and behaviours are complex and arise from multiple factors. Public safety personnel (PSP), such as Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), are exposed to frequent and diverse potentially traumatic psychological events, increasing their risk of developing mental health disorders, which puts them at a greater risk of experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours. The data from the source article indicates that RCMP report elevated prevalence rates of suicidal ideation, planning, and attempts. There were many statistically significant associations reported between lifetime and past-year suicidal ideation, suicidal behaviours, and mental health disorder symptoms.
