Le tabou de la mort et les mythes sur les soins palliatifs, présents tant dans la population générale que dans les équipes de soins, représentent des obstacles majeurs à l’accompagnement adéquat des personnes en fin de vie. Devant ce constat, il nous est apparu nécessaire de créer de nouvelles manières de sensibiliser et d’éduquer le grand public et les professionnels de la santé non spécialisés à l’approche des soins palliatifs. C’est donc au carrefour des sciences de la santé, de la psychologie et du théâtre qu’a émergé le Laboratoire créatif sur la fin de vie. Notre mission : déboulonner les mythes sur les soins palliatifs par la co-création et la diffusion d’une oeuvre théâtrale sensible et éducative sur les soins palliatifs. Dans cet article, nous ferons d’abord état de la problématique du tabou de la mort et des soins palliatifs. Ensuite, nous présenterons notre démarche de recherche-création ainsi que nos objectifs. Les différentes étapes de réalisation de l’oeuvre théâtrale intitulée Si un jour je meurs seront par la suite exposées.
