Abstract
This paper examines the etymology of the word “drones” before tracing the history of drones from flying bomb drones to commercial and civilian drones (CCDs). It then delineates an ethical space for the use of CCDs in a well-ordered society, given the rights of its members to privacy/security, safety, and freedom from undue, excessive noise.
