Abstract
The first part of this chapter deals with the kinetic theory of gases, which is a scientific concept that describes the thermal properties such as pressure, temperature etc, in terms of the speeds of the gas particles (atoms and molecules). Maxwell–Boltzmann speed distribution of gas molecules forms the basis of this chapter. The second part of this chapter deals with thermodynamics that explains the various process or change of state (pressure, volume and temperature) of gases; i.e. as isothermal, adiabatic etc, using the first law of thermodynamics.
