Abstract
The systematic participatory metaphysics of Nicholas of Cusa offers an alternative example to the modern social imaginary, defined as it is by the environmentally problematic nature-culture dichotomy. This consideration first sets out the theistic participatory metaphysics at the centre of Cusa's thought. It then proceeds to consider the basic human cultural activities of naming, knowing, and making, in detail. Taken together these demonstrate an alternative social imaginary in practice, wherein culture and nature are integrated in the broader context of participatory creation.
