Abstract
La localisation d’un atelier de potiers à Hauteroche, sondé en 1972, a permis de mener de nouveaux sondages dans le cadre du PCR « L’argile et ses usages en Auxois de l’Antiquité à nos jours ». Les résultats obtenus ont permis de caractériser un site beaucoup plus étendu avec une production de céramiques communes de la fin du IIIe et du IVe siècles après J.-C., associé à un établissement arasé mal défini et à un monument décoré sur fondations en grand appareil. En marge de cet atelier, une tête sculptée en calcaire a été mise au jour dans une fosse creusée dans le substrat et comblée de manière à protéger son contenu. De petites dimensions et particulièrement bien conservée, cette sculpture semble se rattacher à un ensemble local et pose la question de la fonction et des conditions d’abandon de ce site de plateau le long de la voie romaine entre Alésia et Sombernon.
