À l’image de sa pop expérimentale, fusionnant musique électronique, instrumentation analogique et rythmes afro-colombiens, le tout chanté en espagnol, l’artiste colombo-canadienne Lido Pimienta a créé un univers visuel unique et foisonnant. Son approche, à la fois poétique et ludique, cherche à déconstruire les représentations conventionnelles des femmes latino-américaines dans l’industrie musicale contemporaine. À travers ses clips vidéo, ses pochettes d’album et ses photos promotionnelles, elle déploie diverses stratégies pour aborder de manière originale des thématiques telles que l’identité diasporique, la maternité et le féminisme. En mobilisant les études de genre et les études culturelles, cet article analyse la production visuelle de l’artiste afin de saisir la manière dont elle construit une représentation complexe et revendicative de ses identités multiples, tout en célébrant la pluralité des corps et des expériences féminines, ainsi que l’ambivalence de l’expérience diasporique.
