Abstract
The education system in the first quarter of the third millennium is at a conceptual turning point on a global scale. Being one of the largest social mechanisms of society development, education has to change the form and content of its own functioning. The design of unique educational model which meets the demands of na-tional goals and global trends continues in the Russian Federation. The publication examines key changes in the legal regulation of state educational policy in the Russian Federation, aimed at determining the conceptual and strategic prospects for the development of the Russian education system in the coming years. The devel-opment of state educational policy is analyzed according to the concept of society sustainable development. The author indicates basic global problems in the current development of the educational policy all over the world and studies specific problems and development trends of the state educational policy in Russia.
