Abstract
La place sociale qu’occupent les femmes et les hommes est conditionnée par divers facteurs d’ordre politique, économique, culturel, social, religieux et idéologique. Bien que le principe « à travail égal, salaire égal » s’applique au monde du sport, la logique d’une égalité professionnelle femme-homme ne doit pas ignorer la notion économique fondamentale de l’offre et la demande, concept caractéristique du système économique libéral capitaliste. Dès lors, la présente contribution s’intéresse à l’égalité de traitement professionnel et à l’égale rémunération des athlètes quel que soit leur statut (salarié sportif ou sportif indépendant) ou leur genre (femme ou homme). La question à laquelle nous tenterons d’apporter des éléments de réponse est la suivante : le sport est-il le terrain d’une impossible égalité financière ? Tout d’abord, il sera constaté qu’une égalité juridique a été consacrée formellement, et ce, de manière évolutive. Ensuite, notre attention se portera sur l’existence de données factuelles et économiques susceptibles de relativiser cette égalité (exploitation de l’image sportive, retransmission des compétitions).
