Abstract
Uzun yıllar Osmanlı halkını eğlendiren ortaoyunu, Cumhuriyet Dönemi yenilik hareketlerinin etkisiyle ciddi bir değişim ve dönüşüme uğramıştır. Özellikle Erken Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde ortaoyunundaki temaların, dekorun, tiplerin ve müziğin yenilenmesi meselesi gündeme getirilmiş; bu hususta gazete ve dergilerde pek çok fikir ortaya atılmıştır. Takip eden yıllarda ise Osmanlı’ya ait izlerden hızla sıyrılıp dönemin atmosferini yansıtan “modern ortaoyunu metinleri” yazılmıştır. Böylece ortaoyunu geleneği, büyük oranda özünü muhafaza ederek çağa ayak uydurmuştur. Bu çalışmada, ilk olarak klasik ortaoyunu metinlerinin tematik açıdan nasıl güncellenmesi gerektiğini anlatan gazete ve dergi yazıları kısa kısa irdelenmiştir. Osman Cemal Kaygılı, Mahmut Yesari, Hüsamettin Bozok, Refi Cevat Ulunay, Burhan Felek ve Ismayıl Hakkı Baltacıoğlu burada görüşlerine yer verilen isimlerdir. Ardından, Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde (1927-2012) kaleme alınan 10 ortaoyunu metnindeki “toplumsal eleştiri” unsurları örnekler eşliğinde izah edilmiştir. Genel olarak bakıldığında, oyunlarda en çok millî değerlerin unutulması ve gençlerde Batı hayranlığının artması eleştirilmiştir. Ayrıca toplumdaki beraberlik duygusunun zayıflaması ve kişilerin sorumluluk bilincinden uzaklaşmaları da eleştirilen hususlar arasındadır.
