Abstract
Abstract In November 2022 the author delivered an address to the Student Forum, Canadian Medical Hall of Fame, which is reprinted in this chapter. The author considers the wisdom and insights that he has gained over the years and addresses the concepts of love, work, life, and death. The speech contains a message to the author’s teenage self, encouraging students to believe in themselves, to savour what they have in the here and now and to have faith in the future. They are also reminded that the people who love them will be there to celebrate their moments of glory and will be there to hold them up when they feel unable to do so on their own.
