Abstract
Cette communication propose un nouveau regard sur les relations que la librairie mancelle entretient avec Paris tout au long du xvie siècle. Elle montre comment les libraires manceaux, d’abord entièrement soumis aux grands marchands parisiens, ont tenté de se libérer de cette emprise dans le deuxième tiers du siècle. Avant que les troubles liés aux guerres de Religion viennent bouleverser le monde manceau du livre, ce dernier a connu un indéniable dynamisme d’abord en s’impliquant dans les productions parisiennes, à l’exemple du réseau de Charlotte Guillard, puis en expérimentant des conditions locales de production et de diffusion, qui soient acceptables pour le monde parisien du livre et profitables au Mans, à l’exemple de Denis Gaignot. Après les troubles de 1562 et la reprise en main catholique à partir de 1564, Charles d’Angennes, évêque du Mans, plaça durablement l’édition mancelle sous le contrôle de Paris en privilégiant le grand libraire parisien Jacques Kerver.
