Abstract

Les commotions cérébrales peuvent survenir lors de la pratique de l’activité physique chez les jeunes. Au Québec, entre 2017 et 2019, il y a eu une moyenne annuelle de 42 000 consultations pour une commotion cérébrale dans les services d’urgence des centres hospitaliers et les cliniques médicales. Les jeunes de moins de 25 ans et les personnes âgées de plus de 70 ans avaient les taux les plus élevés par 10 000 personnes. Les effets des commotions cérébrales sur la santé sont multiples chez les personnes qui en subissent. Il importe d’identifier les stratégies de prévention afin de réduire la survenue de ce type de blessures. Cette synthèse de connaissances décrit les stratégies visant à réduire les risques de commotions cérébrales chez les jeunes dans les contextes sportifs et récréatifs qui ont fait l’objet d’une évaluation, ainsi que les effets de ces stratégies.
