Abstract
In this conversation, artist Cindy Baker and philosopher Kristin Rodier converse about a performance and the after events where Rodier performed as Baker. Both identify as having fat taboo bodies, and in the context of the shared performance, discuss how standing in for each other can resist representation and diminish harm in stigmatizing environments. Baker and Rodier consider the performance as an authentic doing, reciprocal exchange, and affective doubling. The interview contains images from previous performances that highlight Baker’s engagements with liveness, absence, and meta-critical humour for taboo artists’ bodies.
