On the 100th anniversary of Zyamil Ibragimovich Gilmanov

Abstract
This article is dedicated to the memory of the prominent historian Zyamil Ibragimovich Gilmanov, whose birth centenary has been celebrated. In 2025, declared the Year of the Great Victory in Russia, the name of Z.I. Gilmanov takes on special significance: as a direct participant in the Great Patriotic War, he is rightfully recognized in Tatarstan as the founder of the history of the Great Patriotic War. Z.I. Gilmanov's two fundamental works on the history of the Tatar ASSR during the war years, published in the late 1970s – early 1980s, became important milestones not only in the life of the scientist, but also in the Soviet historiography of Tatarstan. In terms of the scope of the topics they covered, these books went beyond regional studies and contributed greatly to the understanding of the Tatar nation's contribution to achieving Victory. Z.I. Gilmanov made a great contribution to the historical science of Tatarstan not only through his works, but also as a wonderful mentor. The article reveals the names and achievements of his students. For almost a quarter of a century, Zemil Ibragimovic headed one of the leading departments of the Institute of Language, Literature and History (IYALI) – then the history sector. He left behind good memories of himself among colleagues who were lucky enough to work and communicate with him. For citation: Gallyamova A.G.
