Abstract
Cet article présente les forums RPG et la manière dont le recours au support du forum en ligne a influencé la pratique des jeux de rôle par forum. S’ils conservent de nombreuses similitudes avec d’autres formats de jeu de rôle, les forums RPG s’affranchissent de plusieurs contraintes matérielles et offrent une large gamme de possibilités aux joueuses tout en diminuant pourtant leurs possibilités de modifications importantes de l’univers de jeu. Il s’agit d’un format particulièrement propice à la multiplication des récits, où l’importance du maître du jeu s’amenuise, contrairement à celle de l’écriture, devenue centrale. En effet, c’est à travers elle que le jeu s’effectue, et sa maîtrise est donc primordiale. Les textes semblent avoir été de plus en plus travaillés depuis les débuts du jeu de rôle par forum, au point où se démarquent dans certains RP un style et une voix narrative qui ne correspondent pas au personnage mis en scène. Il semble ainsi que les forums RPG développent leurs propres normes et habitudes, où la mise en scène et l’écriture pourraient participer à la formation d’un ethos de compte.
