Cet article met en conversation deux moments de l’histoire littéraire québécoise : les premiers débats autour de la diversité sociale et linguistique du paysage québécois au début des années quatre-vingt, et le discours d’aujourd’hui, abordé notamment par l’essai de Pierre Nepveu, Géographies du pays proche (2022) et par la loi 21, Loi sur la Laïcité de l’état adoptée en 2019. La réflexion sur ces deux périodes est ancrée dans mon expérience personnelle de recherche et d’écriture, et dans la reconnaissance citoyenne des questions du vivre-ensemble.
