Abstract
O presente trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar a importância que os cães policiais desempenham nas atividades de segurança pública, auxiliando forças como a Polícia Militar, Civil e Federal em diversas missões. Seu treinamento é rigoroso e começa ainda filhote, envolvendo obediência, socialização, ambientação e condicionamento para tarefas específicas, como farejar drogas, explosivos, armas e até pessoas desaparecidas. Entre as raças mais utilizadas destacam-se o Pastor Alemão, o Pastor Belga Malinois, o Labrador e o Rottweiler, por sua inteligência, olfato aguçado, resistência física e facilidade de adestramento. O trabalho conjunto entre o cão e o condutor é baseado em confiança mútua, comunicação precisa e paciência. Esses animais são capazes de realizar operações com agilidade e eficiência que superam e muito a capacidade humana em determinadas situações. O emprego dos cães policiais resulta em maior efetividade nas ações de segurança, redução de riscos para os agentes humanos e aumento da sensação de proteção na sociedade. Sua presença demonstra a integração entre tecnologia biológica e técnica policial, tornando-os instrumentos indispensáveis à manutenção da ordem pública e ao salvamento de vidas.
