Penelitian ini membahas tentang peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam membaca melalui model pembelajaran kontekstual di kelas 1 SDN 028 tanjung permai kecamatan Kampar kiri hulu kabupaten kampar. Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), tindakan penelitian menggunakan II siklus, setiap siklus 3 kali pertemuan. Pada setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas 1. Objek penelitian yaitu Pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dengan menggunakan materi yang diajarkan dengan situasi dunia nyata. Data diperoleh dari lembar observasi dan tes tertulis. Hasil penelitian pada setiap siklus dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kontekstual yang telah mengalami peningkatan, hal ini terbukti dengan nilai persentase yang didapat pada pra siklus 40%, siklus I 72% dan pada siklus II 84%. Dengan nilai rata-rata diatas dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran konstektual dalam meningkatakan hasil belajar dapat dikatakan berhasil.
