Abstract

For decades, power quality (PQ) data required large storage, typically 40-50 harmonic orders per channel, measured weekly. With the rise of supraharmonics, instruments now store up to 57 times more data. This paper presents a histogram-based method to reduce data storage by a factor of 533 for long-term monitoring and a benchmarkingPQat the utility-customer connection. Referencing IEC EMC coordination, the method provides equations for calculating supraharmonic compatibility and planning levels. It was applied at a metalworking shop where LED luminaires are damaged by supraharmonics every 3 months.
