Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

In this paper, we are interested in determining the information bearing properties and abilities of the Hodgkin‐Huxley equation. For the case of a single axon, we describe precisely how the mutual information between the input and the output of the model can be computed. We extend this to the case of coupled equations and find the intriguing numerical result that mutual information between the input and output variables decreases as ephaptic coupling strength increases. Our results indicate that extracellular effects act as distortion vis-a-vis the information borne by the axons. Incorporating extracellular effects explicitly in the “W” coupling matrix by making it a matrix of vectors instead of scalars, we show that under ephaptic coupling, the corresponding synaptic signal depends on these effects.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
