Francesco Giomi, après avoir travaillé avec Luciano Berio, a joué un rôle déterminant dans l’évolution de Tempo Reale, le centre de recherche et de création musicale fondé par ce dernier. Sous sa direction, à partir de 2008, des domaines variés tels que le live electronics , les sound studies , l’improvisation électroacoustique et l’interactivité sont devenus des axes centraux des activités du centre. Il a notamment mis en place des événements tels que le Tempo Reale Festival, qui ont permis de diffuser la musique électronique et la recherche musicale à Florence, tout en renforçant les collaborations internationales, Québec compris. Giomi a également mis l’accent sur son rôle de professeur et pédagogue, accompagnant de jeunes compositeurs et compositrices. Sous sa direction, Tempo Reale est devenu un lieu de création unique, où se croisent diverses formes artistiques et disciplines, favorisant une approche collective de la recherche musicale. Aujourd’hui, le centre poursuit son exploration de nouveaux horizons créatifs, tout en préservant l’héritage de Berio.
