Abstract
Quelle intersection y a-t-il entre la tradition du gamelan balinais et celle des musiques électroacoustiques ? C’est la question que cherche à élucider le jeune compositeur I Putu Arya Deva Suryanegara, chef de file d’un mouvement récent de création mixte pour instruments de gamelan en Indonésie et ailleurs. Dans cet article, trois oeuvres créées à Montréal avec l’ensemble Giri Kedaton sont étudiées afin de décortiquer le processus du compositeur. Plutôt que de faire table rase, ce répertoire démontre plutôt le terreau fertile que sont les technologies numériques pour l’exploration de concepts balinais en continuité avec la tradition.
