Abstract
L’article présente les caractéristiques de la culture arménienne millénaire en l’analysant dans un plus large contexte historique et géopolitique entre « l’Orient » et « l’Occident ». Cette culture s’est toujours enrichie de différents éléments, de nature parfois opposée, qui sont métissés avec les traditions locales et, au fil du temps, homogénéisés d’une manière créative pour lui donner cette expression particulière. En changeant les formes et les couleurs par la force de domination, de côtoiement ou de confrontation des puissants empires avoisinants qui se sont croisées sur le territoire arménien, cette particularité s’est maintenue tout au long du Moyen âge et des Temps modernes et continue à être au cœur de la culture nationale contemporaine. Toutefois, la tradition culturelle arménienne n’est pas éclectique et disparate. Sa structure est maintenue unie et harmonieuse par une forte conscience d’identité nationale, rebâtie après la conversion du royaume au christianisme au tout début du IVe siècle.
