Abstract
L’article examine les insertions citationnelles qui interviennent dans Jacques le fataliste à l’aune de leur caractère allusif. De citations identifiées à retardement en citations désattribuées, c’est une esthétique de la lacune qui semble régir les jeux citationnels du roman : en invitant à une lecture impliquée et participative, loin de la rhétorique distinctive à laquelle les écritures d’Ancien Régime les adossent volontiers, les citations de Jacques le fataliste se constituent en lieu commun du roman.
