Abstract

Face à la numérisation croissante des universités et à l’entremêlement de leurs sphères de vies, les personnes étudiantes investissent une variété de technologies numériques sans que leurs usages et effets soient pleinement compris. D’apparence neutre, la numérisation et l’entremêlement de ces réalités sociotechniques impliquent un ensemble de rapports de force plus ou moins tacites et d’efforts afférents pour structurer l’ensemble de leur dispositif sociotechnique. Une recherche ethnographique longitudinale explorant les gestions et usages étudiants des technologies numériques a permis de faire émerger une typologie de tensions sociotechniques constitutives de cet entremêlement technologique de leurs réalités et contraintes. En se questionnant sur le labeur numérique comme source potentielle de discrimination indirecte, l’article vise à rendre visible et décrire les rapports de force vécus par les personnes participantes. En problématisant cet angle mort de la numérisation des universités au regard des réalités étudiantes, nous étayerons l’approche sociocritique adoptée, expliciterons le recours à la méthodologie de la théorisation enracinée et le profil des personnes interrogées. Les résultats proposeront une typologie de l’ensemble des tensions liées à la négociation du dispositif sociotechnique, et la discussion terminera avec une réflexion sur les discriminations systémiques indirectes que sous-tend ce labeur numérique tacite des personnes étudiantes contemporaines.
