Abstract
De nombreux pays de l’Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques (OCDE) ont adopté la terminologie des besoins éducatifs particuliers (BÉP) pour l’organisation de leurs services d’adaptation scolaire. Alors que cette terminologie avait initialement pour visée de prendre une distance par rapport aux catégories d’origine médicale, l’emploi des BÉP comme étiquette attribuée aux élèves a eu pour effet de reproduire les mêmes dynamiques de stigmatisation. Considérant que le concept de la neurodiversité semble de plus en plus employé dans différents domaines, la possibilité que les systèmes scolaires occidentaux l’opérationnalisent est envisageable. Selon l’auteur de cet article, il faut néanmoins faire preuve d’une certaine prudence afin d’éviter la reproduction des dispositifs d’inspiration médicale présentement en place.
