L’ancienne chaufferie des parfumeurs de Grasse, œuvre d’André Bruyère et de Jean Prouvé, construite en 1962 à la demande d’un collectif de parfumeurs, a cessé son activité en 1986. Propriété de la ville, elle sert depuis de garage pour les services techniques municipaux et a été un temps destinée à la démolition. La redécouverte de ses auteurs et la reconnaissance patrimoniale ont permis à la chaufferie d’être labellisée « Architecture contemporaine remarquable » en 2018. Partiellement modifiée, elle se retrouve aujourd’hui au cœur d’un vaste projet immobilier et urbain. Cet article questionne les enjeux d’un tel projet, au regard de l’histoire et des spécificités de ce patrimoine industriel.
