Abstract

L’ancienne chocolaterie Menier de Noisiel est reconnue de longue date comme un site emblématique de l’architecture industrielle de la seconde moitié du xixe siècle et du début du xxe siècle. Cet ensemble majeur du patrimoine francilien était déjà très documenté et valorisé du temps de son fonctionnement. À l’aune des recherches récentes menées dans les archives de l’entreprise conservées sur le site industriel par Nestlé comme dans celles de la ville de Noisiel, un nouvel éclairage peut être apporté sur notre connaissance du site. L’objectif de cet article n’est pas de réécrire l’histoire de la chocolaterie Menier, mais de tenter de mieux cerner comment industriels, architectes et ingénieurs ont travaillé ensemble pour bâtir cet ensemble exceptionnel.
