Abstract
En Las siete cabritas (2001), Elena Poniatowska retrata a siete mujeres que desafiaron los roles de género de la sociedad mexicana del siglo veinte con el fin de explorar, desarrollar y mostrar su talento e inteligencia. En este artículo se analiza las narraciones que abordan las vidas de: Frida Kahlo (1907 - 1954), María Izquierdo (1902 - 1955) y Nahui Olin (1893 - 1978). El texto destaca cómo la autora devela las vidas de las artistas en una sociedad patriarcal, donde son juzgadas a través de los estereotipos del rol femenino imperante, limitando y cuestionando la importancia de la mujer en el arte. Este artículo analiza la relación entre la narración de Poniatowska, y la representación de la mujer en la obra de Kahlo, Izquierdo y Olin. El objetivo es destacar que estas artistas, como demuestra Poniatowska, buscan generar un nuevo espacio para las mujeres en la sociedad mexicana
