Development of a Multiplexed Synthesis Platform forControlled Polymer Polycondensation

Abstract
Melt polycondensation is a versatile route for the generation of degradable polyesters, but benchtop exploration is limited by low-throughput and poor reaction control. Here, we present a multiplexed synthesis apparatus that enables parallel control of temperature, vacuum, and stirring across up to five reactions. Thermal and vacuum control allows programmable ramping profiles, ensuring consistent setpoints. Torque feedback serves as a real-time indicator of viscosity to track reaction progress, such as gelation, during poly(glycerol sebacate) synthesis. Through batch synthesis of poly(octylene succinate), we demonstrate reproducible molecular weight control, establishing the MSA as a scalable, data-driven platform for the development of degradable polyesters.
