Abstract
Œuvre emblématique de la littérature médiévale (XII e -XIII e siècles), le Roman de Renart se distingue par la présence de nombreuses métaphores liées à la peau et aux poils. Ces figures, souvent élaborées sous la forme de topos narratif, jouent un rôle central dans la construction narrative et réflexive des textes. L’exemple du topos des « touffes de poils volantes » est significatif à cet égard : s’il traduit la violence des interactions entre les personnages, il invite également à réfléchir aux dynamiques d’écriture et de réécriture propres au Roman de Renart . La présente étude propose d’effectuer une analyse topique et narrative des cinq occurrences de « touffes de poils volantes » recensées dans les vingt-quatre branches de l’œuvre écrites entre 1175 et 1250. Mettant en scène Renart et/ou son plus fidèle ennemi Ysengrin, nous montrerons que la fourrure animale, composée de multiples flocons , réfléchit à la fois la structure en branches, singulière et propre au Roman , et sa dimension intertextuelle . Arrachés à la peau des personnages, ces touffes de poils volantes renvoient à la matérialité du parchemin, au palimpseste, et à l’idée d’un texte en perpétuel renouvellement.
